DuVal, E.H. 2000 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama Kingfisher & variable seedeater. We left the release cage for telemetry at Bridge when we moved the nets to Well... A day later we still haven't remembered to pick it up! 10 April 08 weather: Partly cloudy, sunny, light breeze. Today we did observations at Bridge 2nd Beach (2) CC (4) EDM (1) 2nd landing (1) Well (1) First Beach (2), 2nd Beach (1). Kat did telemetry work but the batteries were running low (~45 mints) and I didn't track in the afternoon. The DMs at 2nd Beach (2) are all banded, thank goodness, but were doing nothing but down-whistling at me. Kat found a nest of blackheaded antsnakes being attacked by ants. The chicks were writhing and alive when she saw them; two hours later they were dead and entirely coated in black ants. So it's not a wild theory that
