DuVal, E.H. 2000 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 9 April 2008 Weather: Sunny, hot, partly cloudy, rained very briefly at Bridge in the am (not at the restaurant) I stayed back to oversee the repairs Francis workers were making to the cabins, and Mark & Pat opened the nets at Bridge. It seems that catching RIBB put an end to activity at the lab for at least a day. We caught a slow trickle of birds - 9 for the entire day. During the mid-day break I went to check/stake out nest E-2. After an hour of watching for the female, I looked into the nest and found both babies dead, with ants beginning to eat them. It wasn't clear whether they'd been killed by ants, or starved to death, but the bodies were nearly intact and showed no sign of trauma. I collected them and stored them in ethanol after removing heart & liver tissue & freezing those in EtOH. Bycatch included a green
