OBSERVATION OF A DM AT A NEST:
Kat was staking out nest K-15,
which is
in a short shrubby tree. She
observed a definitive male approach
the nest deliberately, hopping from
branch to branch as females do
when they approach a nest. He
landed on the edge of the
nest for a moment + looked
at the chicks (2) who
were begging to him. After a few
seconds, he flew away. He
didn't feed or anything of that
sort but... interesting. This
nest is in the second landing
area. Kat did not get the
male's band combo.
Kat ran telemetry this
morning - BOY was on her
nest + ABI apparently was
moving around to displaying
males. In the afternoon, BOY
was at CC (+ I got no
signal at all from first beach.
I think the rough terrain is just
frequently too steep for these
transmitters to be picked up).
