Duval, E.H. 2000 Journal Isla Boca Brava, Chiriqui Prov., Panama 27 April 2000 Weather: overcast & still, sun early in the morning. Mark radiotracked BOY to her nest, at last. She was precisely where we've been finding the signal, but her nest was about 3m high - the highest manakin nest site yet. In the afternoon we put my compass on a stick & used the mirror to see that she has one chick, approx 4 days old. We'll try to bleed/band her at 12-14 days old so that we don't have to climb up there twice! We did watches at Acacia (2), Second Landing (2), Bridge (2), CC (1), Second Beech (1), EDM (1), and Mark explored the possible perches between Bee Tree & Second Landing to no avail. Kat found five nests, two with eggs, and I found one more with one egg. I took my time in the morning copying the map that Frank gave me yesterday so that we can plot our points at 1:2000 tendency scale = 5.
