Plasma samples are frozen in liquid N2 immediately after separation. The clay plug in the capillary tube's bottom is pierced with the same needle used to draw blood from the bird, and the red cells are blown out into two separate vials with Longmire's Solution (LMS). One vial is stored in liquid N2, the other at ambient temperatures.
