He also graciously pointed out that I could rent a house in Boca Chica for $30 a month. Savings of $250/month plus the chance to mix with locals sounds good to me. The field assistants visibly balked at the idea, even for short-term, though they saw next to nothing of Boca Chica. Plus Insisting that it would be more dangerous since we wouldn't know any of our neighbors. Why wouldn't we? Sounds like a good reason to get to know people...
