We took a break at midday for lunch & to wait for the cooler afternoon. I walked back to spin down plasma samples & stopped to watch 2 DM's dancing across from acacia near the main street path. Moved off as I approached.
Thought for the day: how would you know if manakins were lekking?
Requires male aggregation, female choice, (no paternal care), non-resource-based, +... It seemed like several pairs of males were displaying within a relatively small area near the second beach - could Dave McDonald be right about perches within earshot constituting a lek?
