DuVal, E.H. 2000 Permits: Collection: 52-2000 Export: 61-2000 13 March 2000 Journal Isla Boca Brava Panama 3 March 2000 Observations of birds present on three transects of the North Island. (North, South trails, & "Main Street" We walked up the North trail first, stopping to watch activity at Bee Tree. A surprising # of birds observed were banded. At Bee Tree I observed (DR) YO/Rd, RY/Ral (on), & BY/Bal (rc). The males are definitely displaying! I took the South Trail & saw YR/Pal (RC), who led a chorus of manatins who alarm-called at me from a display site near the second beach. I Saw a nightjar and two Little hermit hummingbirds in my wanderings... I attempted a list of vocalizations that we could make into a code for use in observations. I tried having us record 3-min bouts of behavior but even I couldn't do it.
