MFSmith 1993 JOURNAL El PeƱasco, -5km N of Maldonado, Depto Maldonado, Uruguay Nov.19 father's car in the morning so we could go to the Facultad to deal with the frozen tissues. We went to a cafe to get a sandwich around midnight, and got about 4 hours sleep. Montevideo Uruguay Nov.20 We got up about 5am. Enrique took a Tapi to get his father's car and Dr Fuentes picking. We drove to the Facultad and emptied the nitrogen tank so we could sort the tissues. Enrique is loaning us part of the tissues (one kidney, a piece of liver, and a piece of heart), from the four animals we tagged near Maldonado. This is the general vicinity of the type locality for several species since Darwin collected here during the voyage of the Beagle. He is also sending one of the skins to MVZ. Enrique drove me to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires. The downtown airport, Jorge Newbery, was much better than Ezeiza - less crowded, and the luggage came very quickly. Arrived in Bariloche, Argentina on schedule on Saturday afternoon and was met by Payne and Anita Pearson.
