'B. Richardson 934 Tadpole May 21 Little Lake Kern River Tulare Co., California Four taken from the south side of th[e] little lake. The water from which they were taken ranged in depth from 6" to 3ft. This portion of th[e] lake was sort of separated from the main part of the lake by a tule bank which varied in width from 50' to 200". The portion of the lake that harbored the tadpoles was well grown up with a large water grass and water buckwheat, and the water was warm compared to that of the river or the main body of the lake. When first located the [tadpoles] were usually near the top of the water but when alarmed they dove toward the bottom to hide.
