W.M. Richardson 1935 Peromyscus truei Dec 21 4 mi N.E. Springville 2800 ft Tulare Co Calf. Caught 14 of this animal in the 100 traps. Farrel area - Sierra Foothill. Life zone - Upper Sonoran Habitat - dry rock surrounded by semi bushy areas. Most were caught in the open grass land. On several occasion while setting my traps yesterday I dug into the lower earth and went on to almost north facing hillside. In every case I found small burrows near which I placed 20 traps. In all but 1 of these localities I caught this mouse. From this I assumed that the mouse had constructed these burrows or else taken over the old burrows of the moles. In each case their burrow went in close association with rocks and brush (Cismock + buckeye & greasewood principally). Dec 22 Caught 4 individuals today. The traps have remained set since the 20 and in no instance did they occur more than one peromyscus in a single trap during the two trapping nights.
