Sciurus douglasii July 4, 2pm E Pipe Flat Tulare Co. Calif. Shut two of these animals this afternoon. Faveral area - Sierra Nevada life-zone - Transition. Habitat - Lower coniferous forest, excluding the sabin pine belt. One individual was shut out of a sugar pine (20 ft up). The other was shot along the littred stream where pine and cedar had grown in thicks and close to the ground. I saw another individual feeding on aphids or other insects which that are to be found in numbers on the young tips of the pine. July 6. Parker Meadow, 6400 ft. Tulare Co. Calif. Shut two individuals with attending traps. Faveral area - Sierra Nevada. life-zone - Canadian. Habitat - S't coniferous forest of mixed size and composition.
