Upper Funston Meadow Kern Canyon
Kern Co., California. 6800 ft.
One of the things that
Mr. Dision shot this morning.
The locality in which they
were taken is about 1/2 mi
below the Kern River Golf
Springs on the east
bank near the switchbacks.
The habitat is the montezuma
brush which covers a boulder
and sand type of alluvial
fan. The scattered Yellow
Pine and Juniper trees
as well as the boulder
gulch are used as refuge
places. The seeds of the
Montezuma berries were found
in the club perch of one
of the chismurkas.
