Calif. 1 Shot this morning. 2 trapped this afternoon (1 young). Faunal area - Sierra Nevada. Life-zone - Conachian Habitat - Apparently inhabit all of this area with the exception of the heavy timbered portion. Their burrows or refuges are made about the rocky or fallen logs on the hill slope. The meadow and isolated grassy areas furnish food. During almost any time of the day this little animal can be seen feeding in the meadow. July 21 1 taken in trap
