1958 Calyptramma Jan. 16 U.C. Campus, Berkeley, and song one round regular territorial song, then to B and the circle song, by which time I had with Brown, and he resumed diving, did so three times, then to B where he perched quietly. Throughout this time the second B remained in the position, his back to the sun, his face and bill directed upward. After about 15 seconds #1 flew into a Japanese quince and was feeding. Chipping bush did so. Male 2 then flew directly to that bush, remaining perched a moment, then flew N-ward around the NW corner of Wheeler and disappeared. #1 followed 2 seconds later came to an evergreen some 50 ft. N & A, and perched there for a minute or so, quietly. He then made a large circle in the opening between buildings (library, old adm., and law), singing on wing and returning to C. I left him. Jan. 2 December stormy and rainy. No display noted. First hummers in regular drive-display behavior seen today this season.
