Petelka 1942 Oct. 24. Wolley Canyon, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Caly. Pine Siskin, 2 American Goldfinch, 1 flying over canyon Gun-backed Goldfinch, 5 Spotted Towhee, 5 Brown Towhee, 3 Oregon Junco, 3 White-crowned Sparrow, 6 Golden-crowned Sparrow, 2 Song Sparrow, 3 Nov. 7 Golden gate Park, San Francisco, San Mateo Co., Caly. Joe Marshall and I spent some- time between three and four p.m. observing birds to the east of the Academy and aquarium buildings. We found bird life scarce, although the weather was favorable (cool, sunny, calm). At one spot on a pine and oak covered ridge with scattered patches of shrubbery, there was an interesting loose flock of birds feeding in the trees and upper parts of tall shrubs. This flock consisted of at least six Bushtits (which apparently constituted the nucleus), 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 2 Chestnut-backed Chickadees, 1 Red-
