Pipilo fuscus 13 Feb Berkeley, Calif. ♀ Pipilo 1st-year Ova to 1 mm. 57.6 slight fat; skull dbl-layered. ♂♀! adult Ova to 1mm. 57.4 slight fat. Considered a pair; not marked, but 2 towhee present on property for last few months; when removed following ♀ should pop 14th; a 4th bird seen on 14th, but the other! 14 Feb ♀ 1st-year Ova < 1mm. 55.2 Almost no fat. Skull dbl-layered. Tail pared; 3 rectrices partially grown, anested! Feb 15-16 Much chirping, mowing among local brown towhees; one present on territory, chiefly along front side of home. Feb 23 1 Pair present. One caught. But Pair evidently not fully "formed" prior to catch, as aggressive dashes observed, and one bird gave series soft notes associated apparently with spinal posture which occurs between unmated birds. Feb 23 ♀ 1st-y Ova < 1mm. No fat. 52.5 Feb 24 One towhee present; late yesterday and today, chirping heard frequently, activity along front side of home.
