1956 Pipilo fuscus. Sept. 25 U.C. campus, Berkeley Brown towhee singing intermittently near Granieri as I was walking to parked car at 5:30. Nov. 18 Queens Rd. f ad. very little fat. 60.0gm. '957 April 25 Queens Rd., Berkeley See notes for April 22 Most are around house since pair removed on April 10. Only one individual April 30 Pair present; courting underway. One individual (??) perched on wire sitting quietly; other individual, flew to wire and performed display of nervous hopping and jumping, turning body slightly with each move, holding his head up slightly (done so strongly in some cases of this display), fluttering or flapping his wing with each move. He approached the f, moving down another wire; when he was a foot or 2 away, she took wing and he followed.
