On 25 Aug, during most of day there were as many as 6 jays calling constantly, spread out, about 500 -
1000 feet apart, in and around the Evergreens grove at The Queens-Fairlawn junction. These were 1st year birds (like the 29 Aug speculators). The latter was alone, on the oak tree next to our house, casually perching, and calling constantly, still doing 'call words' it followed up one jay (start) and the others responding again.
On 26 Aug, a good -year, bank jay (presumably male - lady) was patrolled around the house in the afternoon. It was alone, also calling continuously. It did not return, however, as a resident pair leaves to the NE for their home.
