while I was coming up as well as coming
down, it may be established here. Yesterday
Marshall reported one from the Eucalyptus
trees near the Greek Theatre (Univ. of Calif.
campus). Two family groups of Stellar
Jay were present - one at the lower end,
the other at the upper end of the
canyon. These included well-grown
young. Well-grown young of the Califor-
nia Jay were also seen. Of particular
interest was a fledgling, out of the nest,
probably less than one day, which was
present in an oak tree on the campus
near Cowell Hospital. Other species present
in the canyon forest were Carpodacus
purpureus, Thryomanes bewickii, Chamaea
fasciata, Psaltriparus minimus, Bauclephus
moematus, Pipilo maculatus, Ripisio
fuscus (along margin), Empidonax difficilis,
Hyloichla ustulata, Melopyros melano-
cephalus, and Vireo solivis. One individual
of Myiarches richardsonii was
present in the Eucalyptus and Cypress
trees along the field margins north
of the Greek Theatre. Marshall saw several
yesterday on the shrubets over the open
slopes on the north-facing slope,
