Selasphorus rufus
March 25 Queens Rd., Berkeley, Calif.
perches usually used by the Rufus. These
other species were Warblers, Song
Sparrows, and House Finches.
In all cases when the display was
witnessed in toto, it ended with the R
rising up into the air and concluding
the display with tail actions. It
is a puzzling thing that this R
performed this display so much more
frequently than the normal aerial
display of the species. There seemed
to be a difference between the situation
here and others where a Rufus was
established temporarily and performed
the full, unconfined aerial display.
