August 2 (cont'd.) - Paulo. They established another trap
line with 34 stations and 15 platforms (even stations)
We utilized their platforms # 4, 6, 8, 10, 14, 16,
18, 20, 22, 26.
(2) "Restinga": 10 stations with two
traps in each (Tomahawk + Sherman), mainly on
the ground and sometimes in trees.
(3) "Mata
Alagada": 20 stations, two traps in each (Sherman +
Tomahawk) on the ground and in trees.
(4) "Borda
da mata": 6 stations, two traps in each (Tomahawk
+ Sherman) on the ground, placed in the boundary
between the forest ("Mata Alagada") and the
field ("campo sujo"). Late in the afternoon we
went to the ESMAi (Estacao Experimental Lemos
Maia) in the town of Una, to meet the manager
Jose Inacio L. Moura (phone: (073) 236-2028). ESMAi
is one of the reservations owned by the
CEPLAC (Centro de Pesquisas da Lavoura Cacaverla)
and we are planning on trapping there.
August 3 - checked traps. Took:
- "Restinga": 2 Oryzomys (LC102, LC104), 1 Akodon (RM30).
- "Borda da mata": 2 Oryzomys (RM29, YL103), 1 young Rhizidomys
(LC101), 2 Akodon (YL99, LC103).
- "Mata alagada": 2 Marmosa murina (YL102, RM32), 1 Micoureus
demerarae (LC106), 1 Didelphis aurita (released).
- "Cucaj": 6 Oryzomys capito (YL100, YL101, RM31, LC105 + 2
released - one of them with eartag #5) caught in live
