18 July We conducted this trapping session with
help from students and teaching assis-
tants of the masters program in Ecology
Conservation and Wildlife Management,
Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo
Horizonte, Brazil, including Mônica Fonseca
and Carlos Eduardo Grelle (T.A.s), Raquel
Moura, Diego Astúa de Moraes and 9
other students. R. Moura and D. Moraes
were conducting short-term research on bait efficien-
cy and trap kind and position effects on
small mammals.
At the brejo, we also set eight
pitfalls, that were replaced by 11
Victor traps three days later. We also
set 16 Victor traps behind the laboratory
(forested area) for 5 days (18-23 jul).
19 Jul Checked traps in the morning. Took:
1 Micoureus demerarae (8TA)* and 1 Nectomys
squamipes (17TC) at the brejo and 1
N. squamipes (5 TC) at Vinhático. Prepared
the specimens in the afternoon.
