Jan. 29 and his "staff" (several smaller figures) in room in front of main structure. Buddhist monks with shaven head and orange robes were seen here and elsewhere on our trip. Dr. Dark says they may serve only a few years and then return to secular life. Young men in their teens or early 20's were often seen. Teakwood seems to be the main wood construction material. In the afternoon visited Uto Chulalongkorn University. Dr. Dark met with a physical science group, I with biologists. I met the following persons: Dr. Kloom Vajjropala, a senior man, who teaches elementary zoology and entomology; Shananwat Devakula, a microbiologist; Mrs. Punnnee Buddhari, supervising unit, Dept. of Sci. Educ., Sunthorn Sirisavabhokern Entomology, Dept. of Biol.; Panee (accent on the last syllable) Cheowonich, Embryology, Dept. of Biol. and two others whose names I did not get. Miss Panee and a Miss Bojanee Charuprakorn, Prep. School, whom I did not meet, have worked in BSCS in the U.S. and the latter is now trying out some of the material.
