Journal Bootrigger Saddle, elev. 9000 ft., Chiricahwa Mts. Cochise Co., Arizona. May 22 425, at 745. 745 is the type 6 bird could captured last October. 425 is the captive- raised hybrid Type 1/Type 2, 306 is the type 4 ♀, at 385 is a Sierra Nevada ♂ (Type 2). No crossbills were heard all morning. Some other species were noted, including western and Hepatic tanagers, yellow-eyed junco, raven, Stellers jay, Magnificent hummingbird, broad-tailed hummingbird, pine siskin (uncommon), brown creeper, and at present, warblers and flycatchers are unidentified. Birds 425 and 385 (the males) both sang and called loudly all morning. The females (45 and 306) were quiet, but both called a few times, usually weakly. It was sunny all morning, rather breezy with some high cloudiness. The afternoon was dull. No crossbills heard. An Arizona Fish & Game officer stopped at the camp. He told of the hot winter just past -- dry, little snow-- and also of goshawks, mountain lions on Fly Peak, and five parrots released at South Fork which he says have
