J. Groth 1987 journal Barfoot Park, elev. 8200 ft., Chiricahu mts., Cochise Co., Arizona May 21 (contd) were staying at the Southwest Reserv Station. I stuffed skines most of the day. May 28 The daily broke as usual, with crossbills around the park. I repeatedly see an adult red male Type 2 feeding from 1-3 juveniles. It appears to be the same male, since he always goes to water at the same place, with the juveniles in tow. I caught two birds this morning: one very orangish ♀ and another very red male. The male's mate (a ♀) was around, but I missed her (I think) after recording her. At about 1:00 pm, I decided to try the thach cals again. I drove down to the creek ad washed-up, then drove to Sierra Vista. It was a hot, (but only in the 80's) clear day, and I got to Carr Canyon Road at about 4:30 pm. It was still closed.
