Holmes, R. 1960 Lemmus 25 July Barrow, Alaska predation is still quite high. 26 July Skrooville, Alaska Lemminings appear to be quite common with vicinity / my census plot. Areas there have a topography such that they are troughs, I moderate depth which have accumulated a pile of dead-cut grass. In the grown lays, there are numerous holes and runways - in fact the areas appear riddled. It was possible today to walk through these troughs and scare up many juvenile lemmings + several adults. This was especially true at the southern half of the plot (Stuber 10.0-25.0). In other locales, this abundance was not noted, but also, these other areas were not walked through. 29 July Barrow, Alaska No lemmings nests were found at the moose This afternoon + none have been reported (excerpt by J.R. - see Reynolds notes).
