7 July Barrow, Alaska
These birds are still quite common
over the tundra and especially
near man-made dwellings or
among the drums, etc. One male
was singing behind the hut
for about half an hour during
the evening. Another was heard
singing near AHCs in the afternoon.
The birds are still often seen in
pairs.
8 July Barrow, Alaska
A nest was found on the east
side of The Butler Building, which
contained 7 eggs. Also the "alarm
or destruction" note was heard in
some hunting just east from
the hut who apparently had gone out.
12 July Barrow, Alaska
The two nests (one on west side of the
Butler building and one in tins) both
have young which are about ready
to leave the nest.
16 July Barrow, Alaska
A few birds are seen on the
tundra. Especially near Britton's
area are more able. Singing has
not been heard recently
