Holmes, R. 1962 Erolia Lerruginea 27. 26 June Barrow, Alaska The & appeared, stood on a mound - presumably herself - & she just stood there for several minutes - looking about - but not feeding or acting nervously. Finally, she flew to the ridge to the south. During the next hour, she flew 2 to 3 kms from the central area - over the ridge & back. Finally - she disappeared in the central area & she was flushed from the nest - which contained three eggs. One broken evening-whitings. N.D.B.R. 27 June Pielka reports meet with 4 egg at 1300 - or somewhere to be seen. 28 June Near E of magnetic station & now at 5 km lagoon site, but in driving along the north side of Woblishkop - just SE of the south end of Beach Ridge - a & was flushed from the nest, which was found to contain 4 eggs. Its location was on the fourth side of a low polygon - among a patch of grass & ledge (where half the polygon was scarcer vegetation - more peaty & lichen moss covering). Turnstail well in the vicinity - as has been before in all other sightings. A bedded down rodent-run type distribution, with head down & pulled both into the body - both feathers muffled. Arms held slightly away from 1ST N.A. NEST
