Holmes, R. 1959 Plectrophanax aiivilas 21 June Barrow, Alaska The nest in the trees now has 6 eggs, and the female is incubating. Several pairs are still seen flying and cheering over the tundra. 25 June Barrow, Alaska The hunting are now paired off and are seen only occasionally. The males singing have slowed down with song heard occasionally. The nest in the trees still contains 6 eggs. 30 June Barrow, Alaska The nest in the trees still contain 6 eggs; none are hatching yet. 3 July Barrow, Alaska 0900 - All young have hatched from the nest in the trees. The young have a considerable amount of feathers for just having hatched. 6 July Barrow, Alaska These birds were common today, especially among the many drums where are stocked behind A.R.I.. Both males and females were present, and both were feeding. Several were seen under plumes, apparently molt is underway.
