Holmes, R. 1959 Plectrophenax nivalis 3. June Barrow, Alaska 1400-1600. Several birds which appeared to be paired were noted in The Vrth Area. One & was collected which contained ova up to 8mm. 10 June Barrow, Alaska. These birds seem to be paired if now, for very few individuals are seen. The & & are often seen chasing each other across the tundra. As a rule, however, the P is the one in pursuit. 11 June Barrow, Alaska These birds all seem to be paired now, and there are frequent chases across the tundra. Often the P will chase either other P or & and the & will often chase other &. There are rather noisy chases and may last for several seconds? 12 June Barrow, Alaska One female (accompanied by a male) was seen carrying nesting material. They were on top of The Barber shop - but across the "street" from the A.R.L. One pair was seen to copulate. They were both standing on a patch of 2ft. sized tundra.
