Halmier,R 1959 Plectrophenax nivalis 2. 6 June Barrow, Alaska Many birds seen around ARL and surrounding bldgs. The & were singing from the building tops. No other breeding activity was noted. Several were also seen in the Voth Area, S.W. of A.R.L. 7 June Barrow, Alaska. Several noted in the Drum area at 1130 but no activities besides feeding was evident. Therein the base were singing. 9 June Barrow, Alaska These birds are still abundant in the base and in the adjoining drum area. Today, 2 & were seen chasing a female. When the & was feeding, the 2 males fed, but if she would fly off the males took off in pursuit and at this time fought among themselves. One would attack the other (while on the wing). Conflict was not seen when the birds were on the ground. Apparently territory setup has not begun yet.
