Calcarum longipennis
3 June Barrow, Alaska
Longspun again numerous. ♂♀ singing everywhere. Pairing does not seem to be complete, since chosen involving 3 or 4 birds an occasional seen (i.e. 2 ♂♂ chasing ♀, etc.), but in many cases a ♂ + ♀ are encountering together with no other nearby.
4 June - Numerous birds seen today. 1 pair was seen copulating (L#1086 & #1087). The ♂ stood on the ♀ with his wings held back + out, it like Dracula display/ to oval. His head was held high apparent. His wing were used in balance.
7 June Longspun seen abundant near Voth's areas. Pairs are generally settled, but a flock of 6-8 ♂♂ was observed — (location). They were not chased by a paired ♂ nearby, but they may have been off the territory.
10 June I met found near Voth's area - with 5 eggs. Another not found, just S. (Brother's) area with 4 eggs.
12 June Above nests are still intact - with the same complement of eggs. ♂♂ are continuing to display; ♀♀ are mostly incubating.
21 June Another nest with 6 eggs in some rafter of ground, halfway to The new campsite (in Voth's area) - also observed.
