Holmes,R. 1968 Calcarinus laponicus 3. 7 July Barrow, Alaska most were in the vicinity of the drum area. 18 July - Longspurs are now seen only occasionally and most there one juvenile or molting adults. 23 July Middle River, Alaska Numerous longspurs were present around the village & funders at the coal mine. The maigths were 7+ young, but a few molting 7's were also present. 26 July Barrow, Alaska Longspurs are fairly rare around here now. They are seen only occasionally. 29 July - Several 7+ immature were noted in the dried portions of Central Marsh. Most there were feeding on the old cat sticks & rats. 2 August - Many were noted today on the flow of Footprint Lake. There appears to be 7+, juveniles, + molting 7's present. All were feeding among the grasses. Estimate - No. 1/2 F.T. Pond - 200+ longspurs.
