17 June Barrow, Alaska
♀ became very excited and gave <
Sheep, shrill note as she flicked
back + forth. She also did a
dishortic display where she lowered
her wings which were spread out
horizontally + downwards spread her
rectrices. The wings were then gathered
as she hopped about, excitedly.
The number of longspurs seems less
this year, and only < few nests have
been found this year by anyone.
18 June - A flock 4-8? seen feeding at the
beach ridge
23 June Hervaville (Barrow), Alaska
There appears to be about
3 pair at the plot (40 acres).
Only 1♂ was heard displaying.
29 June - A nest found just west of the
Butler building containing 6 young,
which are nearly fledged.
2 July - a few pairs are still seen in
plot but active display
has completely stopped. Also
single or one often seen + sometimes
2-3 may be feeding together.
7 July Barrow, Alaska
Several broods / young were seen today
