These birds were common on the
sundra (when it was exposed). The
flight song was (Grie) seven
Amess during flight of pre-dawn evening.
30 may Barrow, Alaska
wherever there as a large patch I
exposed sundra, There an at least 1pr
of Three longspurs. Several times
during the evening, territorial conflicts
were noted & chasing usually
ensued. Males were seen displaying
frequently.
1 June Barrow Alaska
Much chasing, My 8 was noted. Territorial
disputes were seen a several area of
largely exposed sundra. This combat consisted
of a chase by the settled 8; no physical
combat was shown.
10 June Barrow, Alaska
The number of birds present seen
relatively low. The males are
magnificently defending their territory,
but 4t seen to be scarce.
