Holmes,R. 1959 Calcarius Lapponicus 4 August Barrow, Alaska Several seen in USTI's Area and flat country to the South. Two were caught in the traps, and there were nearing completion of the molt. 7 August Barrow, Alaska Flocks of 20-30 were noted both in the Olson Logon area & in the Fortfoot lake vicinity. There were seen 15-20 on the Tegon Tundra. Apparently by their moving (although the movement was not in one direction). 11 August Pitt Point, Alaska Many present. Flocks of 15-20 are present all over the tundra. All the birds seemed to be in flocks this morning, seemed to have completed their body and tail molt. 12 August Pitt Point, Alaska These flocks are still present and the birds seem to be the commonest one present. 14 August Pitt Point, Alaska Due to the heavy winds during the past two days, the numbers of seen seems to have diminished. This may be due to only a suppression of them
