9 June Barrow, Alaska
and others not. The condition
of the gonads of 7 birds collected
showed no difference when
compared to those (several days)
ago (all around 2 mm in diameter).
10 June Barrow, Alaska
The 99 seemed more abundant than
previously, and the males were
seen frequently going through their
aerial song-display. The fight-chase
between 2 males was only seen once.
11 June Barrow, Alaska.
The birds seem to be paired now with very few
individuals seen. They are often seen in
their chases over the snow where the 8 may
be chasing the & or 2 & will be chasing
each other. During the "" chase, there may
be actual contact between the two birds. One
& which was collected had an egg
which was just about ready to descend,
so i, laying would have been within
a day or two.
