Holmes, R. 1960 Nyctea scandiaca 26. 15 Aug Skroavik, Alaska The juveniles at nest #10 have moved about 350 yards south. The nest - along the ridge. Both adults are still in attendance. One chick (the youngest) was found dead near the nest. The weights are recorded on the wt.-record sheet. 16 Aug Barrow = Cape Lisburne, Alaska An occasional scatland owl was seen between here & Wainright but they were by far nowhere common. Now we see west/ Wainright. 20 Aug Barrow, Alaska Two juveniles (flying, but steel with down) seen along the west shore & family logom. Bands could not be seen. 21 Aug The young were weighed at nest #10. Only 2/3 could be found (the oldest & the youngest). The adults were still in attendance. 27 Aug Barrow = Pitt Point, Alaska Owls seen frequently before Barrow Helmnault Bay. This includes several family groups. Beyond the Bay, 1-2 were seen.
