Holmes, R. 1960 Nyctea scandiata 20 19 July Barrow, Alaska Proceeded to destroy the nests. 21 July Skovarik, Alaska Nest #9 was empty, but the young (2) were about 36 yards away to the south. They were swepted again. The eggs taken from this nest on the 17th were definitely infertile (infected rotten). Nest #10 contained 4 young + 1 egg which was just beginning to pip. 23 July Barrow = Meade River, Alaska Several birds seen north of the stream, but none below it. The naturalist at Warramatt Meade River said that there were very few around that area that year + that were watched. (They also said there were no Shrewed clubs - but we did find a nest). 26 July Barrow, Alaska Nest #1 was checked + several of the young were found + bars applied to those which had not been banded previously. The nest south of Loon was checked. The young had moved several hundred yards away, but all 10 were
