When 1st discovered, Dr lost young
hood just dried off, and while
we were there, the velvet brat
led the group II. See Brant note.
14 July Skroawite, Alaska
Two chicks were steelin nest
#9. They were weighed this morning
before returned to Barrow.
In nest #10, 1 egg was start
To pip.
17 July Barrow - Skroawith, Alaska
Nest #7 was again checked. The chicks
were weighed & banded. Owl nest
#10 contained 2 young, 1 pipping egg,
and 2 eggs. The young were weighed.
During the evening, I sat at the
blend at nest #12. During the
2' hour that I was there, the owl
came in and brought a
lemming. The & then began to
feed it up & gave snore
chunks to the chicks. Most of the
time, the owl seemed to just sit
& feed all 4 young. The owl
attempted to cover the young with
her wings in order to give them
protection.
