Holmes,R 1960 Nyctea scandiaca 9. 21 june Ikravile (Barrows), Alaska Pair #810 Seen south of the second split with Okeworks this evening. 22 june - Pair # 810 seen again in the same area. In the evening, The nest was located on a rather prominent mound. It contained 5 eggs. Nodewrings were present around the nest. Copulations or drizzle displays were not seen. 23 june - Nest #10 still contained 5 eggs, + both birds were present. An attempt was made to get to nest #89. But it was discovered that This nest is located beyond a deep slough (described as an inlet or trough on 1 june - due to snow cover). I was directly across from The nest but could not see into it. Both birds were present, so Apparently the nest is still active. 27 june- Barrow, Alaska Nest #2 was visited. It contained 7 young + 2 eggs. There were several old Lemmings around the nest + 4 fresh ones (3883,19).
