10 June Barrow, Alaska
18' sec along the Olson loggers, just south
of Woolschlag Slough. This is
presumably the brood noise 8. When
disturbed it flew out and twice
sat about 400 yards from shore. Later
it flew to the north 1st slough.
12 June - Nest #4 checked. It shell contains 7
eggs, one 1 which was beginning to
cip. There were 1 or Lemmus lying
next to the nest. Nest #8 was
checked, and there are now
6 eggs. No lemmings present. Nest #7 has 10 eggs.
No lemmings were here either.
#9 was seen doing the dracula
display about halfway between
the 2 sloughs — the west shore
of Skvarik. On a mound 20
yards away from a 4. Several
minute later, both flew off in a
northerly direction.
13 June - Male #10 was alone when seen today, and no
other birds were seen in that area. He was not
displaying.
16 June - Nest #1 was checked, + 2 contained
1 young. No other eggs were
hatching.
