Holmes, R. 1960 Jane Barrow, Alaska Nycka scandaca was located on a polygon top near the edge of the lake. Nest #7 was then checked and was found to contain 10 eggs. It is located on the edge (valley slope [near its low end]). Only #7 was seen. The mound of lemmings (#10) was checked and no additional lemmings had been added. The 8 was still present and was performing the dracula display when I first arrived. This took place about 35 yards from the mound on a low polygon top. During the remainder of the time spent in the area, he did not display again. Nest #1 was located & it contained 9 eggs. The pair was present here. During the evening, we checked #7 & #8. The pair at nest were present & could be seen clearly; since the nest was checked this morning, it was not looked at again. #8 was found and all eggs had been broken. No human footprints or any other footprints were noted. Both birds were present however; and the 8 was seen during the dracula display with [illegible]
