Holmes,R. 1954 Nyctea scandiania 26 August Barrow, Alaska One seen on the ridge just west of Kera-vibe Lake. 28 August Barrow, Alaska One female seen halfway between Uthi’s Area + Fortpoint lake. One male seen the west side of the northern peatra / Ft.- Print Lake and one male observed several hundred parts every day southern half of the lake. No feeding activity was noted - all were sitting in mounds. 31 August Barrow, Alaska Two birds (19,18) have been seen consistently on or near Uthi’s for the past three days. They are usually seen sitting at the leeward side of the mounds - Apparently to get away from the cold N.E. wind. 2 Sept. Barrow, Alaska The two birds have been seen again; both yesterday + today, in Uthi’s Area. They have not been noticed flying. Very few pellets have been found - Their mounds.
