16 June Barrow, Alaska
Birds were 50 yards beyond the fudlers bend.
On 8 gave the aerial display - minutes
introductory notes + terminal whine. They
landed near the central area - fled for
about 5 minutes & then chased to the
north - in calm an erratic flight -
finals landing along the bluff -
20 yards N.E. The byl polygons.
Pattelka & I returned in the evening -
1 pair (with a light) & was located feeder
about 300 yards S. of the central area. Soon
after they were located. They took flight - gone
N.N.W. - landed near the central location &
there was a great flutter 1 wing - behind a
polygon - may have been copulated & then they
flew off a long distance to the N.W. - beside
200 yards N.E. The byl polygons area. Late day
were seen flying west - into the marshy country.
The light pair was noted feeding about
100 yards S. of the central area - along the
edge of the marsh areas. They kept in a
company of 2 Turnstones which had a nest
nearly - where are they flew - De Corte
Sqr. Flew with them. There 2 - probably 1st
year Sqs. - seem to have the Hudson's Bay
Pearly cars heard - were call note - at
9:30, not introductor The song - chuk, chuk.
