Holmrs,R 1960 Larus hyperboreus 3 June Barrow, Alaska 4 seen sitting on Elson Lagoon this morning, but no others noted. The group which has been at the beach ridge are now gone. 5 June Barrow, Alaska - Inam River One marshy flat near the edge of a lake, about 3 mi N of Dr. Gram Piers, a girl nest was located. It was a mound which had been built up to a height of about 4-5 inches and contained small pieces of dried grass only. No eggs had been laid, but the adults were present. 7 June - 2 seen at the Beach Ridge near The census plot. 26 June - a flock of immature birds (mostly 3rd year, 1 or 2 darker individ. - is a 2nd yr?) were seen sitting on the ice on the Lagoon south of Salt Lagoon. 17 July Shroovik, Alaska One adult + chick reported by Carson near the southern end of Shroovik. 24 July Barrow, Alaska 4 flock of 3rd yr. immature seen, seething in the hooked (Reedwood)
