Holmes, R. 1962 Stercorarius longicaudis 14 July Barrow, Alaska 30+ east of Bear ridge - halfway to Elson. 15-15 along the west side (centre and south) 1 B.R. + small groups of 2-6 birds seen over Voth & Drift areas. These birds seem to be almost everywhere - with sitting - walking - apparent feeding - insects or flying hunting. 16 July 30-40 - 80+ footprints + several men on plot. 19 July None seen today w during Doolat for days. All seem to have departed. 21 July 3 seen over No. 8th Area. - Flying high - apparently not hunting. 24 July 4 birds - two apart flyin NE over Voth Area & Drift. 25 July Three individuals seen scattered between Bear Ridge & Elson Lagoon. 26 July Two seen flying near Voth Area - caused Doolan who were feeding on open block near yards - to run + crawl in tall grass. 28 July One seen so. 1/3 Wobesblog Slope. 30 July 1 in Arktel Marsh. 31 July 3 flying high over insect trees 1 Aug 2 in Tordrunt Lake - 2 over (west) plot - all were flying low, hunting r. apparent hunting.
