Holmes,R 1962 Stercorarius parasiticus 7 July Barrow, Alaska Two seen are the D.P. near the magnetic station + one was hunting over the insect plats. It seems that these birds are probably taking 1-2 days number 1 shorebirds- egg +/or chicks - since they seem to cruise for 1-2 days and a number meet the bird list - presumably to their predator. 8 July One black phase by Fisk Lake at 1400 - 2 black phase on broad ridge near gasoline at 1600. One light phase flying north 2 km - tail near Carter Sop nest - near waterchuck. 9 July Several on the Skroavik census plot + along the sour shore of the lake. 21 July One dark phase flying high over insect trap - moving E. 1st one seen in 1½ weeks. 25 July 1 N.4 magnetic station - the Bearshike 28 July Five see sound (probably loons) - 1 dark + 1 light. - both hunting. In flight low over the tundra. - circling around. 30 July 1 flying west over Cirkhol Marsh. 12 Aug 6-8 seen on the N., VOA - VOA Marsh area (3 dark + at least 3 light birds). 13 Aug 2 nests pop 14 Aug 2 new Desert plots 15 Aug 1 near Larkspur Lake - 1 near Caster Ridge
