Stercorarius parasiticus
7 July Barrow, Alaska.
A pair was seen on the east
slope of the Black ridge near
the census area. They were settled
on the ground, but no activity
was noted. (Another pair was
seen just N. of the east census
area along the Short Clam
Lagoon. They were seen feeding
on some shid, as once they left
this was looked into. It turned
out to be part 1a back of a female
eider. They had been seen near
it but apparently it was not
fresh enough as they mumm
m. This pair was joined by
a third bird which was in dark
phase. The three then began
to go along the lagoon.

One seen flying near the south
end of Middle saltwater lagoon.
16 July Barrow, Alaska
Two birds seen separately near
Wohlschloz's Slough. One was a
dark phase. No breeding activity
was noted. There were along the slough,
but where these were seen before.
